How is Your Eligibility Determined?
When determining your eligibility for Federal and State financial aid, the U.S. Department of Education and the State of Georgia requires that STC Financial Aid Office take a number of factors into consideration. For example:

The Georgia HOPE Scholarship will provide partial tuition assistance for those who qualify and are enrolled in Associate Degree programs only. The Georgia HOPE Grant will provide partial tuition assistance for those who qualify and are enrolled in Diploma or Certificate programs.
Cost of Attendance:
Cost of attendance (COA) is a budget determined by the institution to estimate the cost of education for the academic year. This includes direct costs, such as tuition and mandatory fees, plus estimates of indirect costs including books and supplies, transportation and personal expenses. The estimated figures of the indirect costs are provided by The GA Coastal Labor Board and Housing Authority and are based on nine-month Georgia regional and metropolitan budgets. These indirect costs are only estimates. Individual student costs may vary based on student's standard of living and residential location. A breakdown of the cost of attendance is available here.
To estimate the direct cost of tuition and mandatory fees for your program of study, feel free to use this Net Price Calculator tool provided by the U.S. Department of Education
The EFC of each student will vary and is determined by the U.S. Department of Education based on the information provided on the FAFSA form. Savannah Technical College will use this information to determine your eligibility for need-based financial aid (i.e., Federal Pell Grant, SEOG, Work-Study, and Subsidized Stafford Loans).
Students enrolled in 12 or more credits each semester is considered Full-Time. Six to eleven credits is considered Part-Time and less than six credits is less-than-half time. It is important to note that the number of credits you are enrolled in will often determine the amount of financial aid for which you are eligible. If you are considering dropping a course, pllease consult with a financial aid representative to determine the impact this will have on your financial aid eligibility.
The formula to determine your financial need is the Cost of Attendance minus your Expected Family Contribution minus your Estimated Financial Aid = the difference is your financial need. Your financial need determines your eligibility for need-based aid like Pell Grant, FSEOG, Federal Work-Study, and Direct Subsidized Stafford Loans.
