The Technical Certificate of Credit provides formal early childhood care and education training and instruction. The program prepares students to meet credentialing requirements for the national Child Development Association (CDA) standards set forth by the Council for Professional Recognition. It also meets Bright From the Start's requirement that all Child Care Providers have at least a TCC by Dec. 1, 2010. The program also serves as a bridge to the Early Childhood Care and Education Diploma and Associate Degree programs.
Prospective students must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Meet minimum program admission requirements on the Asset or Compass placement test or take required developmental courses
- Have a minimum of 480 hours of experience in working with children in the past 5 years (documented by a letter of verification from employer or supervisor) and are currently employed in the field.
- Pass a criminal background check with their employer/volunteer site.
- To be employed as a child care provider or teacher, candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
- To be employed as a Center Director or Family Home Child Care Provider, the candidate must be at least 21 years of age.
